Every once in a while you have to stop regular projects and focus on improving the shop itself. This is one of those times.
This ‘minor detour’ project actually took a full two months to complete. Along the way there were several firsts. My first 1/32nd thick cut (part of the drawer face), my first stiles (made out of jatoba), my first drawer (with slotted sides), and my first time working with angle aluminum.
I’m incredibly grateful to Woodsmith Plans for publishing the Mobile Planar Stand.
If you see the photo with all the papers on the ground you’ll get a sense for my workflow. Typically I will take plans and scratch out my own notes and measurements. Sometimes even with detailed plans like these there are missing implementation steps. You have to figure out a lot of stuff on your own. That’s part of the fun!
Oh yeah, I should also mention… it’s working great. 🙂
